About Us
Welcome to Drive Wise Training Services, based in Launceston, Tasmania. Tim Bunton, the owner of Drive Wise Training Services and a qualified driving instructor, brings a wealth of driving experience from Tasmania and across all Australian States and Territories.
With a strong background in safety and workplace training, holding a Certificate IV in WHS and a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment, Tim combines his extensive driving expertise to provide you with a safe, knowledgeable, and comfortable learning experience at a pace that suits you. This approach allows you to enjoy the journey as you learn to drive and become a competent and confident road user.
As a father of three teenage daughters, all of whom he has taught to drive, Tim understands the challenges and fears that parents face when their children are learning to drive. The mission of Drive Wise Training Services is to support both learners and families through this important milestone.

Confidence & Anxiety-Support Driving Lessons
If you feel nervous, overwhelmed, or avoid driving, lessons can help you:

- Practise coping strategies for stress on the road
- Drive in unfamiliar areas safely
- Strengthen attention and decision-making under pressure
Supportive coaching, no judgement — just practical progress.
Refresher Lessons (Returning to Driving)
Ideal if you:
- Haven’t driven in months or years
- Recently moved to Tasmania and are looking for a driving instructor
- Want to improve specific skills such as parking, navigating highways, or driving in busy areas
- Prefer short, structured driving lessons with clear goals
We focus on safe habits and building real-world confidence as you learn to drive.
NDIS & OT-Supported Driving Lessons
We can support driving goals for individuals aiming for greater independence and community access, including those receiving OT support or utilising NDIS-funded capacity building supports (where appropriate to your plan and provider arrangements).
Lessons can be structured around goals such as:
- Building spatial awareness and motor planning skills
- Developing safe decision-making and hazard awareness
- Improving planning, attention, and situational awareness
- Increasing confidence in new environments
- Learning strategies to manage anxiety while driving
- Creating a step-by-step pathway toward independent driving
Collaborative approach: When supporting learners with specific learning needs, our specialised driving instructor collaborates with an Occupational Therapy driver assessor throughout the learning journey. This coordinated approach ensures that driving lessons align with assessment recommendations, goals, and strategies to help learners build safe, transferable driving skills with confidence.
